Mark Finser was a founding member of the Social Science and Youth Section of the School for Spiritual Science in North America. He started his career in social finance in 1984 as a founding member of the Rudolf Steiner Foundation (RSF), an organization focused on developing innovative social finance tools out of Anthroposophy. Among other accomplishments, RSF is responsible for funding the expansion of Waldorf Schools throughout North America. Mark served as President and CEO until 2007, helping to grow assets to $120 million, and then transitioned to Chairman of the Board of Trustees until 2018.
Mark has run an impact venture fund, served on the board of Gaia Herbs and B Lab (B Corp), and is currently serving on numerous not-for-profit boards such as The Fellowship Community, Anthroposophia Foundation (connected to Uriel Pharmacy), and Living Lands Trust (the largest organic and biodynamic farmland trust in the US). Mark was a founding member of New Resource Bank, a dedicated green bank, which Amalgamated Bank acquired in 2018. Mark transitioned from Chairman of New Resource Bank to an independent director of Amalgamated Bank, which completed an IPO soon after. He remains an Independent Director, Chair of the Compensation Committee, and member of the Governance and Executive Committee for Amalgamated, a socially responsible bank with $7 billion in assets. Additionally, he serves on the Bank's Trust Committee, which oversees $52 billion in trust department assets.
Mark is also an advisor for high net-worth families, assisting them in their impact investing and socially minded financial goals.
